EMBRACE THE COLD

Unlock your potential. Break through mental barriers. Feel invigorated.

A Chill Tub will change your outlook on life and allow you to break through your own boundaries and make you feel you can take on the world.

An ice tub is a recovery technique used by athletes and individuals looking to reduce muscle soreness and inflammation after physical activity. Some potential benefits of taking an ice tub include:

Reducing muscle soreness

Cold water immersion can help reduce muscle soreness by constricting blood vessels and reducing inflammation.

Improving recovery time

By reducing muscle soreness, an ice tub may also help athletes recover faster and be ready for their next workout or competition.

Decreasing inflammation

Cold water immersion may help reduce inflammation in the body, which can be beneficial for individuals with chronic inflammation or inflammatory conditions such as arthritis.

Improving circulation

Cold water immersion can stimulate blood flow and improve circulation, which may help with recovery and reduce the risk of injury.

It’s important to note that ice tubs are not suitable for everyone and can be uncomfortable or even dangerous for some individuals. It’s always best to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new recovery routine.

Start your cold journey with Chill Tubs.

Norepinephrine Boost

Cold exposure can significantly increase the production of norepinephrine in the body, with a consistent increase of 200-300% that does not diminish over time. The colder the temperature, the more pronounced the body’s response to the increase in norepinephrine production. In fact, a 20-30 second immersion in near freezing water can elicit the same level of increase as a 6 hour walk in 16°C weather.

Protein Power

Cold exposure can stimulate the production of a protein called PGC-1alpha, which can increase metabolism at a cellular level. PGC-1alpha is being targeted by pharmaceutical companies in the development of treatments for obesity, diabetes, and cardiomyopathy. In muscle tissue, the increased energy released from the production of PGC-1alpha can improve aerobic capacity and endurance, as well as increase resistance to fatigue.

Increased Killer T Cells

Cold water immersion, particularly in the winter, can challenge the immune system and the way hormones communicate with the body. Studies have shown that regular winter swimmers experience adaptive reactions, including an increase in the production of the antioxidant glutathione. Just a few cold water sessions over a 6 week period can increase the number of lymphocytes, a type of immune cell. Some research has even found that males exposed to 4°C for 30 minutes had an increased number of “killer T cells,” which are cells that help to eliminate viruses. These findings suggest that cold water immersion may have immune-boosting effects on the body.

Immune Boost

There is widespread anecdotal evidence that suggests that cold water immersion can boost the immune system. Many people report feeling healthier and less prone to illness after regularly taking ice tubs. While the immune system is complex and difficult to study, it is believed that the cold can help to adapt and harden the body to disease and infection. Despite the lack of robust scientific studies on this topic, many people believe in the immune boosting benefits of cold water immersion.

The filter should be replaced every three months

Filter Clean

It is important that you use the new Chill Tabs sanitiser to chemically treat the water to ensure that it is safe to bathe in. Although the water is cold, bacteria can still be present. Cold temperatures cannot kill germs, but only slow down their growth.

You should still chemically treat the water to ensure that it is safe to bathe in. Although the water is cold, bacteria can still be present. Cold temperatures cannot kill germs, but only slow down their growth.

Therefore, bacteria in cold temperatures will not be able to function, but if they are brought back to room temperature, they will start to multiply.

  • What does a hot tub cost to run?
The cost to run a hot tub can vary widely based on several factors, including the size of the hot tub, the climate, energy rates, and how often you use it. On average, you can expect the monthly cost to be between £15 and £40. In colder climates or with more frequent use, costs can rise to £80 or more per month.
  • When should I switch off my hot tub?
We recommend leaving your hot tub turned on as much as possible. It is much more cost-effective and efficient to turn the heat down slightly rather than turning it off altogether. Heating the hot tub if it has been off for a long period of time is time-consuming and ultimately more expensive. An additional benefit of keeping it turned on low is that it ensures the water is filtered and cleaner ready for your next use. However, if you are planning on not using it for a while or wanting a winter shut-down, we offer this service. We can send a fully approved engineer to your home in order to completely drain the hot tub including the draining pipes. Clean down the hot tub and ensure that no water remains in the system, avoiding any damage from freezing pipes. For more information about our maintenance services head over to our Service Plans page.

  • What's the difference between 13-amp and 32-amp hot tubs?
13-amp hot tubs are great because they allow you to plug into normal conventional plug sockets. However, the 32-amp hot tubs require specific power supply upgrades that can only be done by a qualified electrician. While the 32-amp hot tubs typically offer more performance and generally higher specification, it is because of this that they require more power. Please factor in the cost of having an electrician install a 32-amp power supply at your home or business. Our 13-amp hot tubs either have a single 2-speed pump or separate jet and circulation pumps along with a 2kW heater. The heater will not work when the jets are on and visa versa. A 32-amp hardwired hot tub will generally have a 3kw heater and at least one pump (up to 5 pumps) dependant on the model specification. The 32-amp hot tubs need a separate isolator which would need to be installed by a trained and certified professional electrician.
  • What do I need to do before my hot tub arrives?
Before your hot tub is delivered, you will need to make some preparations. This includes installing an appropriate electrical supply for your hot tub. The product pages specify the maximum power supply for each tub. However, we are happy to discuss this with you before your purchase if you wish to check. Your electrician will require this information, but it should be straightforward for a certified electrician. You will also need to create a solid base for the hot tub to stand on. Please refer to our Pre-Delivery Guide for more information.
  • Will I receive a chemicals pack with my new hot tub?
Yes! When we deliver your hot tub, we will go through everything you need to know and give you a setup demonstration. This will allow you to get familiar with your brand new hot tub and get you started. Our Relax Spa Essential Starter Kit is the perfect starter kit and worth visiting our chemicals page should you need any more!
  • What are the benefits of owning a swim spa?
Owning a swim spa offers a range of benefits, including versatile exercise options, relaxation, and hydrotherapy. Swim spas combine the benefits of a traditional pool and a hot tub in one compact unit, making them ideal for both fitness enthusiasts and those seeking relaxation.
  • How do swim spas differ from traditional pools?
Swim spas differ from traditional pools in size, functionality, and maintenance. While traditional pools are larger and deeper, swim spas are compact and offer adjustable current for swimming in place. Additionally, swim spas require less maintenance and space compared to traditional pools.
  • What maintenance is required for a swim spa?
Maintaining a swim spa involves regular cleaning, water testing, and chemical balancing. It's essential to clean the filters, check and adjust the water chemistry, and ensure the swim spa's components are in good working condition. Regular maintenance helps prolong the lifespan of the swim spa and ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for users.
  • What are the different features available in swim spas?
Swim spas come with various features such as adjustable current for swimming, hydrotherapy jets for relaxation, LED lighting for ambiance, built-in seating for comfort, and water purification systems for cleanliness. These features enhance the swim spa experience and cater to different user preferences.
  • How to maintain the water quality in a swim spa?
Maintaining water quality in a swim spa involves regular testing, balancing chemicals, cleaning filters, and ensuring proper circulation. It's essential to monitor pH levels, sanitize the water, and address any issues promptly to keep the water clean and safe for use. Following a routine maintenance schedule helps ensure optimal water quality in the swim spa.
  • What is the ideal temperature range for a swim spa?
The ideal temperature range for a swim spa is typically between 82°F to 88°F (28°C to 31°C). This temperature range provides a comfortable environment for both swimming and relaxation activities. It's important to adjust the temperature based on personal preference and intended use of the swim spa.
  • Where do you deliver and what's the cost?
Escape Hot Tubs deliver Nationwide! We deliver for free within the first 50 miles of Worksop, North Nottinghamshire (S80 3GP), there is then a nominal charge of £1 per additional mile thereafter.
  • Do you deliver outside the UK Mainland?
We do deliver outside of the UK Mainland, However, this does change how the tubs must be paid for and delivery costs will be incurred. For those wanting delivery outside of UK Mainland, please contact us before making your purchase.
  • What is the lead time for delivery?
We regularly keep our hot tub models in stock in our South Yorkshire warehouse which enables us to fulfil most orders within 2 weeks of the order being placed. This can increase to 4-5+ weeks in peak season.
  • What if i'm not quite ready to take delivery?
Not ready? No problem! We can hold your outdoor living items until you're ready. Simply place a £250 deposit for each item to secure them for up to 6 weeks. Need longer? If you need additional time, you can pay the remaining balance in full, and we will continue to hold your items until you're ready, with no pressure to schedule a delivery!
  • Can you fully install my hot tub?
Yes! We offer various delivery packages that include either our standard installation service and also our comprehensive installation service. All deliveries are carried out by our own team of highly skilled and experienced engineers.
  • Can you install my hot tub indoors?
Yes! Our hot tubs can be installed either indoors or outdoors. However, there are a number of things to take in consideration when installing a hot tub indoors such as; Installation access Sufficient ventilation Waterproof flooring Drainage If you have any questions or queries, please head over to our contact page and we’ll happily help you with this further.
  • Can you install the electrics for my new hot tub?
32 Amp For our 32 amp hot tubs, it is essential to hire a qualified electrician. This is a specialist job, and since most hot tubs are installed outdoors and filled with water, ensuring the electrical work is suitable and safe is critical. Only a professional electrician should handle the installation to comply with safety standards. 16 Amp (13 Amp) Our 16 amp hot tubs can operate on a regular RCD-protected "caravan" style socket. While we always recommend having someone familiar, experienced, or qualified to handle the power supply, a standard power supply from your home or business is usually sufficient. If you have any doubts, please consult a local electrician to inspect and ensure everything is safe for you.
  • Do I need any plumbing installing?
The great news is that hot tubs don’t need a permanent water supply. They’re filled and drained using a hosepipe. This means you shouldn’t need to install any additional plumbing at your home.
  • How do you get a hot tub into position?
If you choose a package which includes our delivery and positioning service, we’ll use a special spa sled to manoeuvre your new hot tub into place. You can find out more information in our Pre Delivery Guide.
  • How much space do I need to get my hot tub in?
You’ll need an access width between 850mm and 1050mm, depending on your chosen hot tub. If you have less than this, we may still be able to position your hot tub. We’ll call you shortly after you place your order to talk through your access before we deliver. In some cases, a crane will be needed to position the hot tub. Please contact us to discuss access if you have any concerns at all.
  • I may need a crane, can you help?
Yes! Although we can’t provide you with a crane, we can help you source one. Crane costs will vary from around £250 to £800+, depending on factors such as the height of your house, the distance from kerbside to the hot tub’s final position, and the type of crane being used. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
  • What are the benefits of using a Chill Tub?

Tolerance to cold water varies from person to person and we recommend being mindful of gradually building up the duration of use with the Chill Tub and be cautious when using it alone. Children must be supervised near the Chill Tub to make sure they do not play with the equipment and do not carry out operations to be performed by adults (cleaning cycles/maintenance). Always attach the cover when not in use. Small children are not advised to use the Chill Tub. Pregnant women should talk to a doctor first, low temperatures are not advised. Anybody under medical care, such as people with heart conditions, diabetes, high or low blood pressure or other health problems must not use the Chill Tub without first consulting their doctor. • How long should I stay in a Chill Tub for?
The amount of time you can spend in cold water without suffering from hypothermia is determined by the water temperature, your body size and shape, your level of cold adaptation and your experience, among other factors. Check with your doctor as relevant. Start with safe, short dips of 30 seconds to learn what your limits are. If you begin to feel uncomfortable or you start to shiver, listen to your body, get out and slowly warm up by walking around. If you like, you can check the water temperature before entering the bath, to ensure that it is at temperature that is suitable for your experience in cold exposure. The temperature of the water is displayed as default on the control panel.
